Benjamin "Ben" Grimm, also known as the Thing, is a fictional superhero appearing in Marvel Comics. He is a founding member of the Fantastic Four.
Grimm was a skilled pilot and college football star. He and his best friend, scientist Reed Richards, embarked on an unauthorized space voyage. Cosmic radiation bombarded their vessel.
Upon returning to Earth, Grimm underwent a monstrous transformation. His body mutated into a large, orange, rock-like humanoid form, granting him superhuman strength, durability, and stamina. He acquired the alias "Thing".
Despite his gruff exterior and initial resentment towards Richards for his condition, Grimm remained a loyal and integral part of the Fantastic Four.
